The NHTSA has issued 1 recall affecting the 2026 Kia K5 related to the front passenger Occupant Classification and Detection System (OCS/ODS) air bag unit. This recall concerns an OCS/ODS unit that may not correctly detect a child restraint system, which can increase injury risk if the front passenger air bag deploys with a child restrained in the seat. Can I get my 2026 Kia K5 recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
Recall repairs must be performed under the manufacturer's recall program and are best completed at a certified Kia franchise dealership like Nalley Kia to ensure OEM parts and proper programming. Independent shops cannot always access manufacturer software updates, OEM replacement modules, or warranty recall parts; for safe, guaranteed work, schedule appointment with our certified team.
How long does a 2026 Kia K5 recall repair take?
Most OCS/ODS unit replacements are typically completed within a few hours, but exact times vary by parts availability and appointment load. When you schedule service, our advisors will provide an estimated turnaround; check current offers under service specials and ask about loaner options and service financing.
Does an open recall affect my 2026 Kia K5's trade-in or resale value?
An unresolved recall can negatively affect trade-in and resale value because many buyers and dealers check NHTSA records before purchase. Resolving recalls at Nalley Kia preserves vehicle value and buyer confidence; to get a recall resolved before selling or trading, visit our trade-in portal at sell-your-car-online.htm or schedule service.
Can I fail a state inspection because of an unresolved 2026 Kia K5 recall?
