What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2022 Kia Sportage?
The NHTSA records we reviewed list 15 recall reports affecting the 2022 Kia Sportage and related Sportage model years covering fuel system, engine, brake, label and trailer tow systems. Major items include multiple fuel-pump/fuel-tank fuel-leak reports, HECU brake-electrical short-circuit issues that can cause engine compartment fires, an engine bearing wear campaign, an incorrect tire pressure label, and a trailer harness defect that may keep trailer brake lights illuminated. All listed recall repairs are authorized by Kia and must be completed at a certified dealer; they are performed free of charge. If you want immediate help, you can schedule service with Nalley Kia for a free recall inspection.
How do I check if my 2022 Kia Sportage has an open recall?
You can check by entering your VIN on NHTSA.gov or by contacting Nalley Kia for a free VIN recall check. NHTSA is the authoritative source for recall listings; our service team also runs the manufacturer database and will confirm any open campaigns at no cost. Bring your VIN or vehicle registration when you visit, or call us and we will verify your status and schedule service if needed. Nalley Kia also offers service financing so you can get covered service now and pay later if non-recall work is required.
How much does a 2022 Kia Sportage recall repair cost?
Manufacturer recall repairs for the 2022 Kia Sportage are free of charge to the vehicle owner. If a recall repair reveals unrelated maintenance or wear items, Nalley Kia will disclose any additional costs before performing that work; recall remedy parts and labor required by Kia are performed at no cost. We recommend you schedule service promptly so safety issues like fuel leaks or HECU electrical faults are resolved at no cost. Nalley Kia also posts limited-time offers under our service specials that may apply to non-recall maintenance.
Can I get my 2022 Kia Sportage recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
Recall repairs must be performed by a manufacturer-authorized dealer to ensure OEM parts, proper software updates, and warranty tracking; we strongly recommend using a certified Kia dealer. Nalley Kia is a factory-authorized Kia dealer with factory-trained technicians, OEM diagnostic tools, and Kia-approved parts to ensure the recall is remedied to manufacturer standards. If you use an independent shop, the repair may not be recognized by Kia for warranty or safety-tracking purposes; for safety and documentation, bring your vehicle to Nalley Kia to have recalls addressed and recorded. You can schedule service online now and ask about our service financing options when you call.
How long does a 2022 Kia Sportage recall repair take?
Most recall repairs for the issues listed (fuel-pipe inspection/replacement, fuse replacement and HECU software updates, label correction, trailer harness replacement) are completed within a few hours, but time varies by campaign and parts availability. Nalley Kia will provide a more accurate estimate when we verify your VIN and the specific open campaigns; some engine inspections or replacements may take longer if an engine replacement is required under the campaign. To minimize downtime, please schedule an appointment and we will confirm expected turnaround and loaner options if available. We prioritize safety recalls and will work to get you back on the road quickly and safely.
Does an open recall affect my 2022 Kia Sportage's trade-in or resale value?
Yes—an unresolved recall can negatively impact trade-in and resale value because some buyers and dealers verify recall status before purchase. Resolving recalls at a certified dealer like Nalley Kia restores documented safety compliance and helps protect resale value; we also provide documentation of completed recall work. If you plan to trade or sell, having recalls completed prevents last-minute deal delays and potential price reductions; you can get a quick check and appraisal through our sell-your-car service. Nalley Kia provides factory documentation for recall completion, and we can advise how completed recall history supports higher trade-in offers.
