Frequently Asked Questions

8 common questions answered

What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2022 Kia Soul?
The NHTSA records include 22 recalls across Kia Soul model years covering steering, engine, catalytic converter, accelerator pedal, transmission/gear position, and structural issues. Primary issues in the record set include steering pinion plug separation (loss of steering), engine and catalytic-converter overheating that can damage pistons, accelerator pedal fracture, and transmission/parking mechanism faults. These recalls were issued by Kia and documented by the NHTSA; some campaigns affect specific model years and powertrains rather than every 2022 Soul variant. If you want one-on-one help to confirm whether your 2022 Kia Soul is affected, contact Nalley Kia in Lithonia, GA and schedule service for a free VIN check.
How do I check if my 2022 Kia Soul has an open recall?
Check your VIN on NHTSA.gov and contact Nalley Kia for a free dealer verification; this is the fastest way to confirm open recalls. Go to the NHTSA recall lookup, enter your 17-character VIN, and confirm any open campaigns listed for your vehicle. To have our factory-trained technicians confirm and perform required work, schedule service at Nalley Kia — recall repairs are free under the manufacturer program. We also offer service financing options so you can get required work done now and pay later if additional non-recall services are needed.
How much does a 2022 Kia Soul recall repair cost?
Manufacturer recall repairs are performed at no cost to the vehicle owner; Kia covers parts and labor for confirmed recalls. If a recall leads to additional repairs not covered by the recall, our team will provide an estimate and explain available service specials and payment options. Visit our service specials page to see current offers that can reduce any non-recall maintenance costs. If you're unsure, bring your 2022 Kia Soul to Nalley Kia in Lithonia and we will inspect and advise — recall work is free and priority-scheduled when possible.
Can I get my 2022 Kia Soul recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
Recall repairs must be completed by a certified dealer to ensure manufacturer procedures and software updates are applied correctly; a franchise dealer is the safe choice. Independent shops cannot always perform manufacturer software updates or warranty-validated repairs that some recalls require, so choose a certified Kia dealer like Nalley Kia for recall work. Nalley Kia uses OEM parts, factory-trained technicians, and Kia diagnostic tools to complete recall repairs per manufacturer guidelines. To arrange a no-cost recall repair, schedule service with Nalley Kia and ask about service financing if you need it for unrelated work.
How long does a 2022 Kia Soul recall repair take?
Repair time depends on the recall: simple software updates can take under an hour while part replacements may require a few hours or a day; dealers will give an estimate when you schedule service. For example, ECU software updates for parking-gear issues are typically quick, whereas engine replacements or catalytic converter replacements take longer. When you arrive at Nalley Kia in Lithonia, GA, our service advisors will confirm availability, expected turnaround, and provide loaner or shuttle options where available. Recall repairs are prioritized and performed free of charge; our factory-trained technicians work to return vehicles safely and promptly to customers across the greater Atlanta area.
Does an open recall affect my 2022 Kia Soul's trade-in or resale value?
An unresolved recall can reduce buyer confidence and may affect trade-in offers or private sale value; fixing recalls protects resale and trade-in value. Many dealers and private buyers check NHTSA recall status before purchase, so having recall work completed at Nalley Kia preserves value and makes the vehicle more marketable. If you plan to trade or sell, use our appraisal page to get a quote and bring documentation of completed recalls; we can help with records and provide a free recall verification. To begin, visit our trade-in page at sell your car online or schedule service to confirm and clear any open recalls.
Can I fail a state inspection because of an unresolved 2022 Kia Soul recall?
Some recalls impact safety-critical systems that can affect the outcome of inspections or insurance claims; unresolved safety recalls should be remedied promptly to avoid issues. Failure depends on local inspection rules and the specific recall; for example, steering or engine-fire-related recalls are safety-critical and must be addressed immediately. Nalley Kia in Lithonia can inspect your 2022 Kia Soul, confirm recall status, and perform required repairs free of charge to ensure compliance and safety. Schedule appointment with our certified technicians and ask about service financing if you anticipate additional non-recall repairs.
