12 common questions answered

What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2022 kia forte?
The NHTSA has issued 13 recalls affecting the 2022 kia forte covering engine, air bag, brakes, seat belt, electrical, headlight, axle shaft, and oil pan components. Key issues include risk of engine compartment fire (engine leaks), oil pump contamination and failure, air bag detection and control unit faults, brake pedal stopper deterioration, and potential cooling fan resistor overheating. All recall repairs described by the manufacturer are performed free of charge at a certified dealer like Nalley Kia.
How do I check if my 2022 kia forte has an open recall?
Check your VIN at NHTSA.gov or bring your vehicle to Nalley Kia and we will check for free. Can I get my 2022 kia forte recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
Recall repairs should be completed at a certified franchise dealer to ensure OEM parts, manufacturer procedures, and warranty compliance. Independent shops cannot always perform manufacturer-specific software updates or access Kia OEM repair campaigns; a franchise dealer like Nalley Kia has factory-trained technicians and OEM tools required for many recall remedies. To protect safety, warranty, and resale value, we recommend you schedule service at Nalley Kia — your local certified kia dealer near Lithonia, GA.
How long does a 2022 kia forte recall repair take?
Repair time varies by campaign — some inspections and software updates take under an hour while part replacements may take a few hours to a day. For example, oil pan replacement or engine inspections can require longer turnaround; Nalley Kia will provide an estimated time when you schedule appointment. We prioritize safety repairs and offer convenient scheduling, loaner options, and quick updates so you can return to the road safely in the greater Atlanta area.
Does an open recall affect my 2022 kia forte's trade-in or resale value?
Yes — unresolved recalls can reduce trade-in value and deter buyers, since many dealers and private buyers check NHTSA recall status before purchase. Resolving recalls at a certified dealer like Nalley Kia restores safety compliance and helps protect resale and trade-in value; you can start a vehicle appraisal at our trade-in page. Bringing a vehicle current on recalls also simplifies financing and inspections, and prevents potential insurance complications tied to unresolved safety campaigns.
Can I fail a state inspection because of an unresolved 2022 kia forte recall?
Potentially — some recalls affect safety systems covered by state inspections and unresolved safety defects may cause an inspection failure depending on state requirements. NHTSA recall fixes restore compliance; bringing your vehicle to Nalley Kia for a free recall remedy reduces the risk of failing an inspection in Georgia or neighboring states. If you are concerned about inspection status, schedule service and our team will advise on any safety items that could impact inspection outcomes.

Kia will notify owners, and dealers will replace the brake pedal stopper pad, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin January 30, 2018. Owners may contact Kia customer service at 1-800-333-4542. Kia's number for this recall is SC158.
