8 common questions answered

What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2019 Kia Sportage?
The NHTSA has issued multiple recalls affecting the 2019 Kia Sportage, including fuel-pump/fuel-pipe related leaks, HECU/brake electrical risks, engine bearing concerns, incorrect tire-pressure labels, trailer tow harness faults, and fuel-tank/fuel-pipe issues. Specifically, NHTSA data shows six recalls related to the fuel pump/fuel pipe, four recalls for the braking/HECU electrical circuit, one engine manufacturing-related recall, one certification label tire-pressure recall, one trailer brake-light harness recall, and one fuel tank entry tied to the fuel-pipe condition. All manufacturer recall repairs are performed free of charge by dealers; contact Nalley Kia in Lithonia, GA, or use our schedule appointment page to book an inspection.
How do I check if my 2019 Kia Sportage has an open recall?
You can check using your VIN on NHTSA.gov or bring your vehicle to Nalley Kia and we will verify recalls for free. Visit the NHTSA recall search with your 17-digit VIN, or let our factory-trained technicians check the VIN and look up Kia campaign numbers such as SC172, SC206, SC147, SC103, and SC142. If you prefer, schedule service with Nalley Kia and we will run a full manufacturer recall check at no cost; ask about our service financing options if you need repairs beyond recall work.
How much does a 2019 Kia Sportage recall repair cost?
Manufacturer recall repairs for the 2019 Kia Sportage are free of charge when performed under the recall program. Kia covers parts and labor for approved recall campaigns identified by NHTSA and Kia campaign numbers; Nalley Kia will perform required repairs using OEM parts and factory-trained technicians at no cost to you. If additional non-recall maintenance is recommended, ask our service advisors about available service specials and service financing so you can get necessary work done now and pay later.
Can I get my 2019 Kia Sportage recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
Recall repairs must be performed free by an authorized dealer to ensure manufacturer parts, proper software updates, and warranty tracking; we strongly recommend using a franchise Kia dealer like Nalley Kia. Independent shops may perform generic repairs but cannot perform factory recall remedies that require OEM parts, dealer-only software updates, or official documentation with Kia; for safety and proper recordkeeping, use Nalley Kia for Kia recall service near Lithonia. To protect your safety and future resale value, schedule service at Nalley Kia where factory-trained technicians and OEM diagnostics are used for all recall repairs.
How long does a 2019 Kia Sportage recall repair take?
Many recall repairs for the 2019 Kia Sportage can be completed in one visit, but actual time varies by campaign and required parts; typical jobs range from under an hour to several hours. Some recalls—such as fuel-pipe inspections and fuse or wiring replacements—are relatively quick; others that require engine replacement or parts ordering may take longer. Nalley Kia provides an estimated turnaround when you schedule appointment. If a recall affects safe parking (for example HECU circuit fire risk), Nalley Kia will advise immediate actions and prioritize your repair; ask about expedited scheduling and our service financing options if needed.
Does an open recall affect my 2019 Kia Sportage's trade-in or resale value?
Yes — unresolved recalls can reduce trade-in offers and deter private buyers, because many dealers and buyers check NHTSA records before purchase. Having recalls completed at a certified Kia dealer like Nalley Kia in Lithonia ensures official documentation that preserves resale and trade-in value; we can also provide a free appraisal via our trade-in page after your recall repair. Completing recalls shows buyers and inspectors the vehicle was maintained under manufacturer standards and helps avoid potential insurance complications tied to known safety defects.
Can I fail a state inspection because of an unresolved 2019 Kia Sportage recall?
Yes, in some states an open safety recall related to brakes, lights, or emissions can prevent passing inspection; unresolved recall defects may be flagged during inspections. For the 2019 Kia Sportage, recalls covering brakes, trailer lights, and tire-pressure label accuracy could be relevant to inspection standards; schedule a free recall check at Nalley Kia to avoid inspection issues. Use our schedule appointment page to book a free recall inspection; if further repair is required beyond the recall scope, ask about our service specials and financing options.
