Frequently Asked Questions

8 common questions answered

What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2017 Kia Forte?
The NHTSA database lists 13 recall entries for Kia Forte model years across the range, and the 2017 Kia Forte is specifically included in the SC210 oil pump/oil pan recall for 2.0L Nu MPI engines. These records also include previous recalls affecting other Forte years for engine fires, air bag control units, and braking components; Nalley Kia can confirm which apply to your VIN. For authoritative details you can reference NHTSA records and bring your VIN to our service team for a free verification and remedy scheduling.
How do I check if my 2017 Kia Forte has an open recall?
You can check an open recall by entering your VIN at NHTSA.gov or by bringing your vehicle to Nalley Kia for a free VIN recall check. We will run your VIN against manufacturer and NHTSA records, confirm recall status, and explain the required repairs at no charge if a recall applies. When you’re ready, schedule service online; we also offer service financing so you can get safe repairs now and pay later.
How much does a 2017 Kia Forte recall repair cost?
Manufacturer recall repairs are performed at no cost to the vehicle owner. All recall corrective actions listed by Kia and the NHTSA — such as the SC210 oil pan replacement for certain 2017–2018 2.0L engines — are covered by Kia and provided free of charge at Nalley Kia. If additional unrelated repairs are requested, we’ll provide written estimates and offer service specials service specials and financing options to assist.
Can I get my 2017 Kia Forte recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
Recall repairs must be completed by an authorized dealer to ensure factory procedures and OEM parts are used; Nalley Kia is the recommended certified Kia service provider near Lithonia. While independent shops may perform general repairs, only an authorized Kia dealer will have the official recall campaign instructions, OEM parts, and software updates required for compliance and warranty records. Book a free recall check and schedule service with Nalley Kia to keep manufacturer warranty and safety compliance intact.
How long does a 2017 Kia Forte recall repair take?
Repair times vary by recall: many recall fixes take a few hours, while more extensive repairs (like engine inspection or oil pan replacement) can take a full day. For the SC210 oil pan replacement affecting 2.0L Nu MPI engines, dealers will replace the oil pan and perform required inspections — typical turnarounds at Nalley Kia are scheduled to minimize wait time and often completed the same or next business day depending on parts availability. To confirm estimated duration and reserve a slot, please schedule service or call our service department; we also display current offers on our service specials page.
Does an open recall affect my 2017 Kia Forte's trade-in or resale value?
An unresolved recall can reduce buyer confidence and may affect trade-in offers and private-sale value. Many dealerships and private buyers check NHTSA recall history during appraisals; resolving recalls with documented dealer repairs at Nalley Kia protects resale value and demonstrates proper maintenance history. Start the process by visiting our trade-in page to get an online offer sell your car online after your recall is completed for maximum value protection.
Can I fail a state inspection because of an unresolved 2017 Kia Forte recall?
Most states do not automatically fail a vehicle inspection solely for an open manufacturer recall, but safety-related recalls (air bags, brakes, engine fire risk) can affect inspection outcomes or registration in some jurisdictions. Ignoring safety recalls may also affect insurance claims and could be noted during a pre-sale inspection; resolving recalls at an authorized dealer like Nalley Kia protects you legally and financially. If you’re concerned about inspection rules in Georgia or surrounding counties, contact Nalley Kia’s service team for guidance and to schedule appointment for a free recall verification.
