Frequently Asked Questions

8 common questions answered

What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2016 Kia Sedona?
The NHTSA has issued 10 recalls affecting the 2016 Kia Sedona, covering items such as the occupant detection wiring, power sliding door software, and hood latch issues. Primary concerns in the recalls include ODS wiring under the front passenger seat (which can break and affect airbag deployment), power sliding doors that may not auto-reverse, and a secondary hood latch that can bind on earlier model years. These recalls are documented by the NHTSA; Nalley Kia will inspect your vehicle and perform recall repairs free of charge.
How do I check if my 2016 Kia Sedona has an open recall?
You can check your VIN on NHTSA.gov to see open recalls, or bring your vehicle to Nalley Kia for a free check. If you prefer, schedule service and we will verify recalls, explain any findings, and perform required repairs at no cost. We also offer service financing options if you need coverage for non-recall work; see our service financing pre-approval page.
How much does a 2016 Kia Sedona recall repair cost?
Manufacturer recall repairs are free of charge to vehicle owners when performed at an authorized Kia dealer like Nalley Kia. We perform all recall repairs using OEM parts and factory-trained technicians at no cost under the manufacturer program. For any additional recommended maintenance or non-recall services, ask about our current service specials and financing options.
Can I get my 2016 Kia Sedona recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
Recall repairs must be performed by an authorized dealer to ensure the manufacturer supplies free parts and warranty coverage; a certified Kia dealer like Nalley Kia is the recommended choice. Independent shops cannot always access manufacturer software updates or warranty parts; our franchise status guarantees OEM procedures and free recall work. To protect safety and your vehicle’s factory warranty, schedule appointment with Nalley Kia for recall work.
How long does a 2016 Kia Sedona recall repair take?
Typical recall repairs for the 2016 Kia Sedona range from quick inspections to 1–3 hours for software reprogramming or wiring harness checks; some repairs may take longer if parts or cushions require replacement. Examples: removing a wire harness clip or reprogramming the power sliding door module is often same-day work; replacing seat cushions or latch parts may require short scheduling windows. Please schedule service and our team will provide an accurate turnaround estimate when your vehicle arrives.
Does an open recall affect my 2016 Kia Sedona's trade-in or resale value?
Yes — unresolved recalls can reduce trade-in and resale value because many buyers and dealers check NHTSA records before purchase. Getting recalls addressed at Nalley Kia protects value and provides documented proof of completed manufacturer repairs; you can get a vehicle appraisal or start a trade-in by visiting our sell your car page. Free recall repairs completed at a franchise dealer are a selling point and help maintain confidence for future buyers.
Can I fail a state inspection because of an unresolved 2016 Kia Sedona recall?
Most state safety inspections do not automatically fail a vehicle for open recalls, but serious unresolved recalls affecting safety systems can have inspection or insurance implications. Ignoring recall repairs may increase safety risk, affect insurance claims, and reduce vehicle marketability; Nalley Kia recommends prompt correction at our certified service center. If you are concerned about inspections or roadworthiness, schedule service and we will perform a free recall check and repair.
