Frequently Asked Questions

8 common questions answered

What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2015 Kia Forte?
The NHTSA has issued 13 recalls impacting the 2015 Kia Forte covering engine, air bag, brake, seat belt, electrical and other components. Key issues include an engine compartment fire risk (fuel or oil leaks), brake pedal stopper pad deterioration that can keep brake lights on, air bag control unit or occupant classification faults, and cooling fan resistor overheating; some entries also note oil-pump/foreign-particle concerns leading to engine damage. Nalley Kia in Lithonia, GA, tracks these NHTSA notices and provides free recall repairs using OEM parts and factory-trained technicians; you can schedule service online.
How do I check if my 2015 Kia Forte has an open recall?
You can check open recalls by VIN at NHTSA.gov or bring your VIN to Nalley Kia for a free dealer check. If you prefer dealer assistance, our service advisors will run the VIN through Kia and NHTSA databases at no charge and explain any required repairs and timelines. To have us verify your VIN and plan repairs, schedule service or review available service specials.
How much does a 2015 Kia Forte recall repair cost?
Manufacturer recall repairs for the 2015 Kia Forte are free of charge to the vehicle owner under Kia’s recall program. At Nalley Kia in Lithonia, GA, recall work is performed at no cost using OEM parts by factory-trained technicians, and we verify warranty and recall coverage before any work begins. If you need help paying for non-recall maintenance, ask about our service financing when you schedule service.
Can I get my 2015 Kia Forte recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
Recall repairs must be performed by an authorized dealer to ensure the manufacturer’s remedy and free service are properly applied; Nalley Kia is a certified Kia franchise able to perform official recall repairs. Independent shops cannot provide the official manufacturer recall remedy or access factory software updates and OEM replacement parts tied to the recall program. For guaranteed safety compliance and zero-cost repairs, contact Nalley Kia to schedule appointment with our certified technicians.
How long does a 2015 Kia Forte recall repair take?
Repair times vary by recall type, but many recall inspections and component replacements take from one to a few hours; some engine-related repairs may require longer if significant repairs or engine replacement are necessary. At Nalley Kia we provide estimated turn-around times when you arrive and prioritize safety-critical recalls; we also offer courteous loaner options when available and will notify you if additional parts or extended repairs are required. To minimize wait time, please schedule service in advance and check current offers under service specials.
Does an open recall affect my 2015 Kia Forte's trade-in or resale value?
Yes — an unresolved recall can negatively affect trade-in and resale value because buyers and dealers often verify recall status before purchase. Having all recalls completed at Nalley Kia protects value and shows prospective buyers or trade-in evaluators that the 2015 Kia Forte has received factory-authorized repairs backed by OEM parts and dealer records. If you are considering a trade, visit our appraisal page to get an offer after recalls are resolved: sell your car online.
Can I fail a state inspection because of an unresolved 2015 Kia Forte recall?
An open recall is not typically a direct inspection failure item, but safety-related defects from recalls (for example brake or air bag issues) could cause inspection failures or safety risks during vehicle checks. Resolving recalls at Nalley Kia ensures safety systems operate as intended and reduces the chance of inspection delays or insurance complications related to unresolved manufacturer notices. If you are concerned about inspection readiness, schedule appointment and our team will inspect and advise on any necessary recall or repair steps.

FREE2 OPEN RECALLS

Defect

Kia Motors America (Kia) is recalling certain 2012-2014 Forte and Forte Koup vehicles. The brake pedal stopper pad can deteriorate allowing the brake light switch plunger to remain extended when the brake pedal is released. This will allow the brake lights to remain illuminated continuously. It can also allow the shift lever to be moved without depressing the brake pedal, or activate the engine management brake pedal override feature.

If the brake light switch plunger does not retract as it should when the brake pedal is not being pressed, the brake lights may stay illuminated preventing accurate communication to following vehicles that the vehicle is slowing or stopping. Additionally, if the brake switch plunger is not retracted, then the transmission can be shifted out of PARK without depressing the brake pedal. Either condition increases the risk of a crash.

Corrective Action

Kia will notify owners, and dealers will replace the brake pedal stopper pad, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin January 30, 2018. Owners may contact Kia customer service at 1-800-333-4542. Kia's number for this recall is SC158.
