8 common questions answered

What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2014 Kia Soul?
The NHTSA has identified 22 recalls affecting the 2014 Kia Soul covering steering, engine, catalytic converter, accelerator pedal, transmission, and structure issues. Key components include steering pinion plug failures (loss of steering), high exhaust temperatures damaging catalytic converters and pistons (possible engine stall or fire risk), accelerator pedal fractures, and transmission parking/gear position software updates for related Soul EV models. All recall repairs are performed free of charge by Kia and authorized dealers; owners can contact Kia at 1-800-333-4542 for official recall numbers and details.
How do I check if my 2014 Kia Soul has an open recall?
You can check for open recalls using your VIN at NHTSA.gov or bring your vehicle to Nalley Kia and we'll check the VIN for free. If you'd like us to confirm and book repairs, use our schedule service page and our factory-trained technicians will verify any open campaigns at no charge. We also offer service financing so you can get covered work started immediately and pay over time if needed.
How much does a 2014 Kia Soul recall repair cost?
Manufacturer recall repairs for the 2014 Kia Soul are free of charge when performed by an authorized Kia dealer. Nalley Kia will perform required corrective actions using OEM parts and Kia-approved procedures at no cost to the owner under the recall program. If unrelated repairs are identified, we will explain options and available service specials (service specials) and offer service financing as needed.
Can I get my 2014 Kia Soul recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
Recall repairs must be performed by an authorized Kia dealer to ensure correct software updates and OEM repair procedures; Nalley Kia is a certified Kia franchise able to complete these repairs properly. Factory-trained technicians use OEM tools and Kia software to ensure full compliance with NHTSA and manufacturer remedies—this preserves warranty and safety compliance. How long does a 2014 Kia Soul recall repair take?
Repair time varies by recall: many inspections and software updates take under an hour, while hardware replacements (steering gear or engine components) can take longer—often completed in a day or by appointment. Nalley Kia provides transparent time estimates at check-in; use our schedule service tool to reserve a convenient slot. We can advise on loaner options or local shuttle service and highlight any current service specials to minimize disruption.
Does an open recall affect my 2014 Kia Soul's trade-in or resale value?
An unresolved recall can negatively affect trade-in and resale value because many buyers and dealers check NHTSA recall status during appraisal or purchase. Having recalls completed by Nalley Kia documents that safety issues were addressed with OEM parts, which protects resale value and buyer confidence—see our trade-in page to begin: sell your car online. Resolving recalls also helps with insurance and future inspections, and we offer service financing if you prefer to resolve multiple items now and pay later.
Can I fail a state inspection because of an unresolved 2014 Kia Soul recall?
Some recalls involve safety-critical components (steering, brakes, airbags) that can affect inspection outcomes; while recall status alone doesn't always fail an inspection, an unresolved safety defect could lead to a failed inspection if the defect causes an inspection fault. Nalley Kia in Lithonia recommends addressing open recalls promptly to avoid inspection or registration issues and to maintain safe operation of your vehicle. If you need to schedule service, we will check recalls and perform required repairs free of charge; ask about our service financing if you need help managing additional maintenance costs.
