Frequently Asked Questions

8 common questions answered

What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2013 Kia Soul?
The NHTSA records show eight recall campaigns affecting the 2013 Kia Soul covering steering, engine, catalytic converter, accelerator pedal, transmission and structure issues. These campaigns include steering pinion plug failures (loss of steering), catalytic converter/engine overheating that can cause piston damage or fire, accelerator pedal fractures, and transmission/parking mechanism software updates. All corrective actions listed by Kia are performed free of charge at authorized dealers and are sourced from NHTSA recall notices and Kia technical service bulletins.
How do I check if my 2013 Kia Soul has an open recall?
You can check recalls by entering your VIN at NHTSA.gov or bring your vehicle to Nalley Kia where we will check recalls at no charge. For a free VIN check with factory diagnostic tools, visit our service team in Lithonia or schedule service online and we will verify any open campaigns. You may also call Kia customer service at 1-800-333-4542 with your VIN for official NHTSA/Kia confirmation.
How much does a 2013 Kia Soul recall repair cost?
Manufacturer recall repairs are free of charge to the vehicle owner when performed at an authorized Kia dealer like Nalley Kia. There is no customer cost for recall remedies listed by Kia, including software updates, parts replacement, or engine/catalytic repairs — Nalley Kia will handle warranty paperwork and the repair at no cost. If you need help covering non-recall repairs, ask about service financing via our pre-approval page to get service now and pay later: service financing.
Can I get my 2013 Kia Soul recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
Recall repairs must be performed by an authorized Kia dealer to ensure OEM parts, factory software updates, and proper manufacturer documentation are applied. Nalley Kia uses factory-trained technicians and OEM diagnostic tools to complete recall work correctly and to record the remedy with NHTSA and the manufacturer. If you prefer an independent shop, they cannot file the official recall remedy with the manufacturer; for free, certified completion and record-keeping, bring your vehicle to Nalley Kia or schedule appointment online.
How long does a 2013 Kia Soul recall repair take?
Most recall repairs take between 30 minutes and a few hours, but some engine or catalytic converter replacements may take longer depending on parts and diagnosis. Nalley Kia prioritizes safety campaigns and will provide an estimated turnaround when you schedule service; many software or inspection remedies are completed the same day. If parts are required, we will notify you and provide the earliest available appointment; check our current offers under service specials when you book.
Does an open recall affect my 2013 Kia Soul's trade-in or resale value?
Yes — unresolved recalls can reduce resale and trade-in value because many buyers and dealers verify recall status before purchase. Getting recalls remedied at Nalley Kia protects vehicle value and provides documented proof of completed manufacturer repairs; learn more about trade options at our trade-in appraisal page. Resolving recalls also helps avoid potential insurance or inspection complications that can arise during transfer or sale.
Can I fail a state inspection because of an unresolved 2013 Kia Soul recall?
Open recalls are not always automatic inspection failures, but safety-related recalls (steering, engine fire risk, accelerator) can lead to inspection issues or insurance concerns if they affect vehicle safety systems. If your vehicle has a recall affecting emissions or safety equipment, bring it to Nalley Kia and we will perform the recall repair free of charge and provide documentation that may be required for inspections. To avoid inspection delays, check for open recalls before inspection and schedule service if needed; ask about service financing on our pre-approval page if you require additional repairs.
